Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang increased by INR 500/t d-o-d on 6 May’24. HMS (80:20) prices were assessed at INR 39,000/t ($467/t) exy. Trade activities in semi-finished and finished steel increased during the last trading session in the key markets of India. Additionally, there is a shortage of scrap in the Alang shipbreaking yards due to fewer ships available for breaking.
