India imported about 677,000 MT of ferrous scrap in Dec’15. Two of the major western ports viz. Kandla and Mundra ports were among the top five scrap importing ports in India.
Scrap import at Kandla port in Dec’15 witnessed significant rise with a bulk shipment of 40,000 MT from USA.
Total scrap import at Kandla port was recorded at around 52,000 MT and Mundra port at 31,400 MT in Dec’15.
Meanwhile, the total ferrous scrap import to India in 2015 (Jan-Dec’15) has touched 5.6 MnT.
