In Q3FY24, South32’s manganese ore production declined by 8% q-o-q to 1.175 wmnt. Australian manganese fell by 18% to 0.645wmnt as they temporarily suspended operations due to the impacts of tropical cyclone Megan. However, South African manganese increased by 10%, reaching 0.530 wmnt, as the operation delivered improved mining performance, and planned maintenance was deferred to the June 2024 quarter.
