Coking coal scarcity at Adani Gangavaram Port (AGP) posed a risk to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) operations. BJP’s G.V.L. Narasimha Rao urged AGP workers to permit transportation of 2.5 lakh tonnes of coking coal to VSP to prevent critical damage to coke ovens. Unlike blast furnaces, uninterrupted coke oven operation is essential. Rao explored alternative coking coal sources with RINL-VSP to avert potential shutdowns.
