Hydro Ardal inaugurated a new recycling unit, investing NOK 100 million to process 25,000 t of post-consumer aluminium annually. The upgraded casting line mixes renewable hydropower-based primary aluminium with up to 30% recycled scrap, achieving a record low-carbon footprint of below 3 kg CO2e/kg aluminium. Hydro aims for net-zero aluminium production by 2050, with a 30% emission reduction by 2030 through recycling and innovative technologies.
