Global Crude Steel Production Witnesses Another Slowdown in Nov’15

World’s crude steel production fell by 4.1% Y-o-Y in Nov’15 and 3% during Jan-Nov’15 against the same duration a year back, reported Worldsteel.

Brussels-based World Steel Association (Worldsteel) has reported total crude steel production of 66 countries across the globe fell by 4.1% to 127 MnT in Nov’15 against 132 MnT in Nov’14.

Cumulative production for January to November, crude steel production fell by 3% to 1,470 MnT in 2015 compared to 1,510 MnT in 2014.

Recent price declines seen in steel, iron ore and coking coal offers have emerged as a major setback for slump in global crude steel production in the month of Nov’15.

Worldsteel reports that the United States witnessed the highest decline of 15.6% to 6.1 MnT in production relative to Nov’14. Meanwhile in the EU, France also posted a double-digit decline of 14.7% to 1.2 MnT.

China’s crude steel production was 63.3 MnT, a decrease of 1.6% compared with Nov’14. While, India reported marginal fall of 0.24% to 7.14 MnT in contrast to 7.16 MnT in Nov’14.

Alongside, Russia produced 5.7 MnT i.e 3.1% less than it produced in Nov’14. While, Ukraine produced 1.9 MnT i.e 3.1% more than it produced in the same month in 2014.

Brazil’s crude steel production was 2.5 MnT, a decrease of 4.4% relative to Nov’14.
