Why Iron Ore Pellets producers in India raised offers this week?

  • New mining policies, Shah commissions visit and less supply of fines resulted in price rise of Rs 200/MT in Odisha.
  • Huge demand from Odisha buyers on demand supply mismatch of Pellets and fines raised offers by Rs 700/MT in Raipur, 30,000 tons have been sold out.
  • 2,000 tons of Pellets is being offered at Rs 8,200/MT at Jharsuguda. Prices might be same as large tonnage has need sold.
  • It is offered slightly higher at Rs 7,600-800/MT in Bellary.
  • Senior official at Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd said, “Prices should be stable the next week as NMDC is to reduce iron ore lumps prices by 5-10% in start of Nov and it looks difficult that iron ore supply issues will be resolved”.
  • Offers might rise further in Odisha if miners don't favour Shah Commissions report and remain same at Jharsuguda.
