In Jan’24, ferrous scrap exports from the US totalled 0.97 mnt, marking a 12% decline from the 1.10 mnt recorded in Dec’23. In Jan’24’s exports, Canada remained as the top importer at 0.27 mnt (28% of the total exports). Turkiye emerged as the second-highest importer with 0.21 mnt, followed by Taiwan (0.10 mnt) and Peru (0.08 mnt). On a y-o-y basis, the export volume witnessed a 20% drop as compared to 1.22 mnt in Jan’23.
