As per the railway data tracked by SteelMint, pellet movement through railways almost remained stable in Dec’15 as compared Nov’15. In Dec’15, only 50,050 MT pellets were transported through 13 rakes.
Due to non-operational pellet plants, major plants in eastern India haven’t offered any material. Major pellet makers in Odisha like Jindal Steel & Power and Brahmani River Pellet Limited (BRPL) haven’t moved even a single rake.
Ardent Steel supplied only 30,800 MT pellets via 8 rakes in Dec’15. It had supplied 23,100 MT pellets via 6 rakes in Nov’15.
It has been seen that buying interest of Odisha based sponge manufacturers had shifted towards lump over pellet as iron ore lump offers in Barbil (loaded to wagons) were cheaper at INR 3,200-33,00/MT.
