Coal India produced 52 MnT in Dec’15. Six of the eight subsidiaries have surpassed their production target.
Coal India, a state owned mining corporate, had achieved its production target by 102% by producing 52.07 MnT of coal against targeted 51.08 MnT in Dec’15. The company registered a growth of about 10% in coal production in a month’s time and 11% in a year’s time.
CIL has achieved its production target in Dec’15 after missing it 7 times in row.

Subsidiary-wise coal production
Six subsidiaries among eight have exceeded their production target for the month. NCL was the star performer for the month and achieved its production target by 105%. The company produced 7.5 MnT of coal against targeted 7.2 MnT.

According to a release by Indian Coal Ministry, annual coal demand for FY16 has grown up to 910 MnT. Centre has planned about 550 MnT of coal production from CIL and about 150 MnT from SCCL including other captive blocks.
In addition, Centre has also planned about 210 MnT coal from import by fuel starved sectors including both regulated and non-regulated sectors.
According to latest release by CIL, the company already produced 373.4 MnT of coal in the 1st eight month of the fiscal.
