Anthracite coal market continued to remain sluggish in India.
Import offers have also stagnated at USD 89/MT, CFR India.
According to a trader, demand has remained sluggish and he foresaw no improvement in demand in the coming days.
As a result of weak demand, import affinity among buyers has also shrunk. During Dec’15, only four import consignments have landed at Indian ports (till 24 Dec’15) with cumulative Anthracite coal import volume of 62,800 MT, SteelMint’s data shows. Three of the importers were metallurgical companies, according to SteelMint data.
The prevailing market sentiments indicate that there is no prospect of further import consignments arriving to India.
During Nov’15, Anthracite coal import into India was recorded at 81,950 MT.
