Tata Steel Gopalpur Ferrochrome Project to be Commissioned by Feb’16

After failing to meet several timelines, Tata Steel’s 55,000 MT pa ferrochrome project at Gopalpur in Odisha may be commissioned by February. The company is investing INR 800 crore in the first phase. The company has planned to increase the capacity to 250,000 MT pa in the second and third phases.

“55,000 MT pa ferrochrome plant at Gopalpur is ready and we have started trial run of the plant. We are hoping to start commissioning the plant in January or February”, said Arun Mishra, Vice President of Tata Steel and Head, Gopalpur project.

Tata Steel is also setting up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at the area and awaiting notification from the Indian government. The company is in talks with several investors from China and Southeast Asian countries.
