Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), India’s state-owned and largest steel producer, has concluded an export deal of 15,000 MT billet, which was offered on 15 Dec’15.
According to sources, the company has closed the deal at USD 253/MT, FoB Haldia Port. The lot is likely to be shipped to Bangladesh. Freight rates from Haldia to Bangladesh is around USD 17/MT.
SAIL-IISCO (Bengal) has recently concluded two more deals of 15,000 MT billet each, for Bangladesh in Nov’15. Both the lots of 15,000 MT (size 150*150 mm) were sold at around USD 258/MT and USD 261/MT, FoB Haldia Port respectively.
Global offers
Billet offers for Bangladesh have remained at USD 255-260/MT, CFR Chittagong. Chinese offers for billet are assessed at USD 235-240/MT, FoB.
