During the Spring Festival holiday, key energy giants in China showcased robust operational performances, significantly contributing to the nation’s energy security. CHN Energy reported that 871 units operated without interruption, surpassing planned production targets.
Outbound shipments at operating mines averaged 100 trains per day, reaching a new high. The group maintained close monitoring of coal inventories at power plants, ensuring high-level available stocks for power generation and heating.
Power generation in northeastern China witnessed a remarkable over 20% y-o-y growth. Additionally, new energy power generation surged by nearly 15%. Despite logistical challenges caused by heavy fog, CHN Energy managed to maintain a market share of 44.5% in coal shipments from northern ports.
Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd., a subsidiary, produced 1.19 mnt of coal and 302,000 t of coal-to-oil products during the festival period. Notably, the Xinshuo railway achieved a new record of coal transport, delivering 355,000 t of thermal coal during 10-17 February, averaging 14.5 trains per day.
Similarly, the Shuohuang railway, a vital coal transport channel, exceeded its target, shipping 8.03 mnt of coal to ensure efficient energy supply during the holiday.
CHN Energy Zhunneng Group supplied a total of 1.40 mnt of commercial coal, surpassing its plan by 10,000 t, with an average daily output of 175,400 t.
The Hebei branch achieved a historical high in heating supply, reaching 1.62 million gigajoules, marking an 11.5% increase y-o-y. China National Coal Group produced 3.67 mnt of commercial coal, with outbound rail coal shipments increasing by 14.5% to 2.99 mnt compared to the previous year.
The group generated 1.31 TWh of power during the period, a significant rise of 28.3% y-o-y. Similarly, other energy giants like China Coal Pingshuo Coal Co., Ltd., China Coal Xinji Energy Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, Shanxi Coking Coal Group, Sinopec, and Hubei Energy Group Co., Ltd., contributed substantially to stable and sufficient energy supply during the festival, showcasing their commitment to meeting national energy demand.
