The Justice MB Shah Commission probing the illegal mining in state of Odisha has sought details from sponge manufacturers across India on procurement of iron ore from Odisha and other states, also if ore is procured for self consumption of sold in free market.
“We have received a letter from Shah commission asking to mention entire details on iron ore procured from Odisha and other states and its purpose. There are many others who have received this letter.” said a sponge manufacturer based in Raipur Chattisgarh.
Six member team probing the case is going through documents of various mines.“The nature of violation is different from one state to another. We have probed the mining scam in Karnataka, Goa and now Odisha. But the violation is different,” Karnataka's Principal Conservator of Forests U.V Singh told reporters here after returning from a field inspection in Keonjhar and Sundergarh districts. We will mention everything in our report,” Singh said.
“After the field tour, we will concentrate on document verification,” Singh said adding the team is scheduled to continue its third phase of investigation till November 11.
