Coal India is planning to commence operations at five new mines with a combined annual capacity of 14.3 mnt by FY25. Additionally, the company will expand the capacity of at least 16 existing ones amid India’s growing demand for fuel, as per PM Prasad, Chairman of CIL. Coal India aims to increase coal output by 7% to 838 mnt for FY25. Coal India’s output in FY24 will elevate inventories at power plants running on domestic coal by 16% y-o-y to 40 mnt by FY24.
