Imported Lump Offers to India Fall over Declining Global Prices

South African lump offers to India have decreased further this week amid consistent downtrend in global iron ore prices. Global iron ore prices have dropped by USD 19/MT in last 3 months and are currently trading below USD 39/MT, CFR China for Fe 62% fines.

Imported South African lump offers for ready stock which were around USD 53-54/MT, CFR Kandla have fallen to USD 51-52/MT, CFR Kandla this week.

And for the shipments to arrive in Jan’15, the offers are around USD 48-49/MT, CFR Kandla.

Vessel freight from South Africa to west coast of India are as follows: for Supramax vessels- USD 10/MT, Panamax vessels- USD 7-8/MT and Capesize vessels- USD 6-7/MT.

As per market sources importers have been heard making inquiries about offers but no new vessels have been booked yet.

  1. Iron ore import vessel named “Bulk Malaysia” carrying 90,000 MT South African lump is at berth in Kandla Port. The vessel has been jointly booked by Gallant Metal Welspun, Varssana Ispat and Monosteel
  1. 91,000 MT iron ore import vessel “Jin Hang” from South Africa is expected to arrive at Krishnapatnam Port on 11 Dec’15
  1. Iron ore import vessel named “Densa leopard” carrying 56,000 MT South African lump is expected to arrive at Indian Port on 10 Dec’15. The vessel has been jointly imported by Goa Sponge & Power and Shraddha Ispat
  1. JSW Steel is to import another vessel of pellet feed (i.e. concentrates). The vessel named “Tiger Liaoning” carrying 150,000 MT concentrates is expected to arrive at Jaigarh Port in Jan’15
