Manganese alloys imports decline 20% y-o-y in CY’23
- Japan’s manganese alloys import decreased by 20% y-o-y in CY’23 to 295,605 t which was 368,063 t in CY’22.
- Ferro manganese imports diminished y-o-y in CY’23 to 67,607 t as against 97,951 t in CY’22. Meanwhile, silico manganese fell by 16% in CY’23.
- However, manganese ore imports increased by 5% to 914,205 t in CY’23 which was 869,093 t in CY’22.
Ferro chrome imports drop 11% y-o-y in CY’23
- Ferro chrome imports in Japan decreased 11% y-o-y to 550,415 t in CY’23 as against 617,139 t in CY’22.
- Kazakhstan(240,068 t) and South Africa(191,210 t) remained the key exporter of ferro chrome to the country in CY’23.
- Meanwhile, the imports m-o-m increased in December 2023 to 55,880 t which was 14,210 in November 2023.
Ferro silicon imports down 15% y-o-y in CY’23
- Japan’s ferro silicon imports moved down by 15% y-o-y in CY’23 to 362,945 t as compared to 427,037 t in CY’22.
- China(101,017 t) and Russia(84,762 t) were the major exporters in December 2023.
- Imports m-o-m shrank by 30% to 25,058 t in December 2023 as against 35,569 t in November 2023.
