“Iron ore procurement is a big concern as most of the mines are closed and fresh permissions are not being allotted.
Domestic sales of Iron Pellets with good margins have limited its supply to international buyers”, says Mr. S. Mukherjee, Asst General Manager (AGM) of Raw materials department at Arya Iron & Steel Co. Pvt Ltd in Barbil, Odisha.
“Sponge iron manufacturers might not continue to operate for many more days as sponge iron prices have been stagnant, poor supply of raw material exists and if Iron Pellets prices climb up further.
We are selling Iron Pellets at Rs 8,800/MT (Basic) as of now but by the start of the next week, prices might gain Rs 200-300/MT more.
Output of 80,000 to 1,20,000 tons of Iron Pellets is easily absorbed by market”, he remarked further.
