Indian chrome ore dispatches increased by 18% m-o-m in December 2023.
Dispatches from Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and Ferro Alloys Corporation Limited (FACOR) recorded a 15% increase. Additionally, Jindal Stainless witnessed a 6% rise in dispatches, while Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA) experienced a 3% increase.
Notably, Tata’s dispatches resumed in December following a temporary pause lasting a few months.
Procurement trend

During December, IMFA emerged as the primary purchaser of chrome ore, acquiring 66,972 t, all of which was obtained from its own mines. Jindal Stainless procured 91% of its supply (44,679 t) from OMC, while the remaining 9% (4,305 t) was sourced from its own mines. FACOR obtained 66% of its total (13,836 t) from its captive mines and the remaining 34% (7,271 t) from OMC.
