Indian iron ore exports have noticed sharp increase in Nov’15 as mines in Goa resumed mining. Export stood at 657,950 MT against 255,000 MT in Oct’15.
Iron ore exports from India have increased drastically in Nov’15. Export figures which stood at 255,000 MT in Oct’15 have increased roughly around 3 times to 657, 950 MT in Nov’15.
NMDC (which exports through MMTC ) resumed iron ore exports in Nov’15 and exported 77,000 MT iron ore fines to South Korea. This was its first shipment in this fiscal after central govt. renewed its long term iron ore supply contracts with South Korea and Japan.
Goa iron ore exports have also picked up with resumption of fresh mining in the state. Vedanta remained the largest iron ore exporter and exported 340,000 MT iron ore to China. Other iron ore exporters from Goa include V M Salgaonkar & Bro (93,150 MT), Fomento Resources (92,500 MT) and Samruddha Resources (55,300 MT).

Till Nov’15 India has exported 952,250 MT iron ore in FY16. The figure is down by 68% Y-o-Y.
Indian pellet exports remain nil in Nov’15
Pellet exports from India remained nil in Nov’15. Earlier in Nov’15, India’s mines ministry wrote a proposal to the Finance ministry to scrap the 5% export duty on pellets.
