World Crude Steel Output Dips by 3.1% Y-o-Y

As per World Steel Association’s recently published data, the crude steel production of 66 member countries fell by 3.1% in Oct’15 against Oct’14. The total production in Oct’15 was recorded at 133.64 MnT, which was 137.94 MnT in Oct’14.

The world’s largest crude steel producer, China’s total production fell by 2.02% to 66.12 MnT Y-o-Y while Asia’s crude steel production dipped by 1.26% to 90.74 MnT.

Meanwhile, production of CIS countries, which include Russia and Ukraine, registered a marginal fall of 0.37% Y-o-Y and European Union’s (comprising of 28 countries) crude steel production declined by 3.5% in Oct’15 against Oct’14.

Contrasting year-on-year trend, world’s total crude steel production increased by 2.02% M-o-M basis. The same stood at 130.99 MnT in Sep’15 while at 133.64 MnT in Oct’15.  China’s crude steel production remained almost stagnant at 66.11 MnT and 66.12 MnT in Sept’15 and Oct’15 respectively whereas India’s total crude steel output increased by 3.21% M-o-M and stood at 7.5 MnT in Oct’15.
