Anthracite coal offers have slightly gone up by around USD 2/MT to USD 89/MT, CFR India.
Market participants attribute slight gain in offers due to shortage in supply.
Sluggish demand continues to persist in domestic market and as a result, prices have remained stable at around INR 6,000/MT.
A trader in a conversation with SteelMint said that he could foresee no improvement in demand in near to medium term.
Imports have also fallen due to prevalence of weak demand. Data available with SteelMint shows that only 8,500 MT of Anthracite coal was imported into the country during Oct’15. Apparently, the consignment was the lowest in the 1st seven months of current fiscal.
