Odisha Chrome Ore Dispatches in September and October

Dispatches of chrome ore and chrome concentrates by Odisha miners increased by about 16.3% in Oct’15 against Sep’15.

In October, Tata Steel dispatched 71,149 MT of chrome ore, which increase by over 36% M-o-M; the major reason behind rise in dispatches by 16.3% in October. Out of the total dispatched by Tata Steel, only 11,164 MT was for captive consumption.

Earlier, Tata Steel had finalized a conversion agreement with three companies namely Tirumala Balaji Pvt. Ltd., Aarti Steels Ltd. and Nava Bharat Ventures Ltd. for conversion of chrome ore into ferro chrome, after receiving 3rd lease renewal from the Odisha government, which is valid only till 2020. SteelMint learned from sources that a similar agreement has also been agreed upon last week between Tata Steel and FACOR.

In October, OMC dispatched 38,297 MT of chrome ore, which decreased by 41% M-o-M.

OMC Chrome Ore Auction Witness Lukewarm Response in October

OMC witnessed lukewarm response in the October round of Chrome ore e-auction, as only 6,900 MT was sold. Around 22,000 MT had been put for auction. Out of the 6,900 MT sold, VISA Steel has bought 5,000 MT.
