Indian rupee today breached the level of 55 against the
dollar on weaker domestic and Asian markets.
The forex markets were closed on Tuesday and Wednesday on
account of Diwali festival. On Monday, it had closed at a two-month low of
54.89 to the dollar on lower industrial output and rising inflation.
Experts have the opinion that demand for the American
currency from importers continues to weaken other currencies pushing the rupee
lower.
