Spot Iron Lump Premium Fall by 29% W-o-W

Seaborne iron lump premium has fallen from USD 0.105/dry MT unit to USD 0.075/dry MT unit in a week’s time.

In the beginning of this financial year the seaborne lump premium was observed at USD 0.1/dry MT unit. After a period of 3 months, in first week of July’15 it dropped to USD 0.08/dry MT unit. Thereafter it experienced an uptrend and moved up and touched USD 0.15/dry MT unit in mid of Aug’15.

Since then, lump premium witnessed a fall. This week it has touched its lowest level in this financial year and was seen at USD 0.075/dry MT unit. Thus, registering a fall of 29% W-o-W amid subdued buying. Premium


Premium for seaborne iron pellet fall to USD 16.5/dry MT

Seaborne iron pellet premium imported to China also declined this week. It has fallen to USD 16.5/dry MT, CFR China for Fe 65% grade pellets. Small to medium sized steel makers in China are keeping themselves away from pellet usage as it was too expensive compared to fines. Thus, pellet premium fell amid weak buying interest and supply build up.

However, some demand for pellets was seen in the region of north China owing to stricter pollution control norms and heavy population.
