Odisha Iron Ore Production Stood at 31.8 MnT in H1 FY16

Odisha’s iron ore production moved up by 35% and stood at 31.8 MnT in H1 FY16 against the same period last fiscal year.

Iron ore production in India’s largest iron ore producing state has recorded an increase of 35%. Odisha’s iron ore production was 23.6 MnT in H1 FY15 which has moved up this financial year to 31.8 MnT in H1 FY16.

Odisha’s iron ore production was hit badly by the mining ban imposed in the state on 16 May, 2014. Situation eased out after the banned mines opened gradually and resumed operations. Also, some of the major mines received extended EC limits which added further to the iron ore production in the state.

Odisha govt. through its issued notification has asked the state based miners to raise production & dispatches of iron ore so as to meet the laid target. Thus, miners  are under pressure as demand is not picking up and on the other side they have been asked to raise their production & dispatches. OdishaAmong the major miners, Rungta Mines was the largest iron ore producer with production of 7.6 MnT followed by Serajuddin Mines at 5.9 MnT in H1 FY16. Tata Steel produced 4.6 MnT iron ore in first half of this financial year.

Odisha’s iron ore production up by 30% M-o-M in Sept’15

Iron ore production in Odisha increased by around 30% and stood at 6.5 MnT in Sept’15. In Aug’15, iron ore production of the state was 5 MnT.

Note: Iron ore production figures of SAIL have  been calculated considering tentative figures for the month of Sept’15 as the actual figures are yet to be received.
