Department of Steel & Mines, govt. of Odisha in its recently issued notification has made some amendments in The Odisha Minerals Rules, 2007 and may be called as The Odisha Minerals Amendment Rules, 2015.
In the exercise of powers conferred by section 23 C of MMDR Act, 1957 the state govt. has made following rules to amend The Odisha Minerals (Prevention of Theft, Smuggling & Illegal Mining and Regulation of Possession, Storage, Trading and Transportation) Rules 2007 and be called as The Odisha Minerals (Prevention of Theft, Smuggling & Illegal Mining and Regulation of Possession, Storage, Trading and Transportation) Amendment Rules 2015.
However, the rules shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Odisha Gazette. Some of the key benefits received are as follows:
Renewal of license: Earlier, the license can be renewed further for not more than 2 years on application in Form accompanied with fee & documents. But as per the amended rules, the 2 years period has been substituted with 5 years at a time
Trading license: Earlier, the term ‘Trading license’ used to meant a license issued by the Competent Authority to any person who wishes to sell, trade in transport, store or otherwise deal in any mineral. But the amended rules has categorized the mineral trading license in the below mentioned manner-
