Odisha Govt. Asks Mining Lease Holders to Enhance Iron Ore Production & Dispatches

Deputy Director of Mines (DDM), Koira mining circle in Sundergarh district of Odisha, has recently issued a letter to all the mining lease holders, asking them to enhance their iron ore production and dispatches.

As the iron ore dispatches in FY16 (till date) have been found below the expected figures, which has negatively impacted the royalty collection thereby reduced the expected total collection of the circle office. Thus, in the letter issued by the DDM the lease holders have been asked to enhance their iron ore production (within the approved EC limits) and dispatches of iron ore so as to fulfill the laid target.

Govt. has also instructed the mine lease holders to adapt environmental friendly measures during operation and transportation of minerals so as to avoid any environmental pollution and hazards in that area.

Further it has also intimated that strikes by any association of transporters, loaders and tippers in Odisha have been prohibited by the Govt. of Odisha under Odisha Essential Service Act, 1988. In case of any obstruction to the same by any transportation agencies or truck owners, the same should be intimated to the Director of Mines for cancellation of the registration of such transport agencies or mineral carrying vehicles under (i3MS) Integrated Mines and Minerals Management System.
