DMG, Govt. of Goa is planning to offer 7 MnT iron ore by Sept’15 via upcoming 6 e-auctions beginning from today. The motive behind this is to clear the already mined iron ore lying at mines, jetties & stockyards, before fresh mining begins in Oct’15.
In iron ore e-auctions conducted so far (till 04 Aug’15), 5.4 MnT iron ore has been sold via 7 e-auctions out of the total offered quantity of 7.96 MnT. The 8th e-auction for 1.1 MnT iron ore was scheduled today.
“Department has planned three e-auctions so far – today, 10 Sept and 15 Sept. We are tentatively planning three more e-auctions – 22, 25 and 29 of this month”, said Prasanna Acharya, Director, DMG, Govt of Goa.
Mining companies in Goa are all on a full swing to resume iron ore mining after monsoon. Apart from Vedanta Ltd, V.M. Salgaonkar, Chowgule & Company and Fomento Resources are also expected to resume mining operations in Oct’15.
