SAIL Increases Rebar Offers by INR 500/MT for Sept’15

Offers increased differentially for distributors and project sales.

After a continuous reduction in rebar offers by primary producers, SAIL has decided to increase rebar offers by INR 500/MT for Sept’15 in distributor segments. In projects, it has increased offers by INR 1,000/MT for the same period, as per sources.

However, sustenance of the increased offers by SAIL is still a concern for the market participants. Other south based long steel producers (Vizag Steel) have kept offers unchanged for Sept’15.

Currently, primary producers are offering 12 mm rebar at INR 34,500-35,000/MT (excise duty included, VAT/CST extra) in NCR/Delhi for project sales and by INR 500-1,000/MT more in retail segment. However, secondary producers are offering the same size material at INR 34,500/MT in the same region.

A trader based in Mumbai shared, “Tata Steel has increased rebar offers for the current month by INR 500/MT and is currently offering 12-32 mm at INR 35,250-35,500/MT (excise duty included, VAT/ CST extra) in distributor segment.”
