Iron ore mines in Odisha, which have been closed on violating mining and environmental norms few months back, have applied for permission to lift the piled up stock at mines pit head, said market sources.Though permissions have not been granted yet by Deputy Director of Mines, Joda Circle at Odisha.
“Around 17 mines which got notice from Odisha government on violating norms and were asked to stop further production, have applied for permissions for stock which have been already excavated. If sources are to be believed, around 42 million tonnes are lying at various mines pit head. This will certainly increase supply of iron ore in the market.
Also Odisha government's recent notification for channelizing 50% iron ore sale to state based industry will impact supply of iron ore steel units based out of Odisha.” said a market source based in Cuttack, Odisha.
