On 11 Aug’15, the Indian Coal Ministry has started third round of block auction with two blocks reserved for non-regulated sectors located at Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
Taking coal block auction to the next phase, the Indian Government started third round of block auction with 10 leftover (Schedule II & Schedule III) coal blocks yesterday. On the first day the government had put Bhaskarpara and Marki Mangli l blocks in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra respectively.
MSTC conducted the auction on behalf of Coal Ministry; the first day of auction witnessed strong competition among the industry majors such as JSPL, Godawari Natural Resources, Lloyds Metals and Energy and Topworth Urja & Metals, Crest Steel and Power etc.
While block Marki Mangli-I with extractable reserves 9.96 MnT in Maharashtra was won by Topworth Urja and Metals with the winning bid of INR 715/MT, another block Bhaskarpara with extractable reserves of 24.06 MnT was sold to Crest Steel & Power at INR 755/MT in forward auction.

On 2nd day of auction the government has put Chitarpur in Jharkhand while Parbatpur Central mine in Jharkhand and Majra in Maharashtra marked for Thursday.
