Chinese government removed an export tax of 40 % on metallurgic coke, although it also clarified that this withdrawal is temporary implementing from 1st Jan 2013 and objective is not to encourage exports of coke and related products from China.
“Coal-based coke and semi-coke, used in steel making, has been removed from a list of goods attracting export duty in 2013”, according to a statement by the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council dated December 10.
Indian met coke users cheer on this news as they anticipate this might cut down global prices in coming weeks on improved supply from China.
