MMTC Tenders to Import 0.35 MnT Coal on Behalf of CIL

The company floats tender to purchase imported coal for CIL which will be the third installment for Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) between CIL & MMTC.

MMTC has floated this tender for procurement of 0.35 MnT imported steam coal, as per requirement of CIL for power plants on FoB delivery point basis, through various ports across India. This requirement of coal is for Q2 of FY16.

In April’15, MMTC had received import order for 2.35 MnT steam coal from Coal India Ltd and Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Ltd during 2015-16. Out of 2.35 MnT, the company had put out a tender for procurement of 0.75 MnT Imported coal in the month of April’15. The tender issued today is for procurement of the next installment of 0.35 MnT coal.

Earlier in FY15, CIL had issued a tender for supply of 5 MnT imported coal and signed a FSA with MMTC to supply imported coal to power plants. The agreement required MMTC to meet CIL’s 80% coal needs for the power plants, with 65% of the contracted amount from domestic sources and another 15% through imports. In Q4 of FY15, CIL received its first order of 0.5 MnT imported coal from MMTC for PSUs. The second order for 0.75 MnT imported steam coal was the next installment from the agreement to supply 5 MnT steam coal for which the company issued tender in the month of April’15.

The current round, i.e. the third installment procured through this tender, will meet the operational requirement of the following thermal power stations:

Quotations should be given in USD for cost and freight prices and rest of the prices in INR. Last day for submission of quotations is 15 July’15 at 14.30 hrs and technical bids will open on the same day at 15.00 hrs.
