Pittsburgh-based Alcoa Corporation has announced the closure of its Intalco aluminum smelter in Washington which has been completely inactive since 2020. The smelter has a production capacity of 279,000 t/year and after its closure, Alcoa’s global consolidated capacity will be at 2.69 mnt/year. It has two other smelters in the US with a combined capacity of 399,000 t.
