- Alcoa Corporation announced that the Portland Aluminium smelter in Australia would lower their production capacity by about 75%, which was previously been operating at 95% of its total capacity.
- Recently, the smelter experienced an instability and difficulties with the production of rodded anodes.
- The smelter has 408 pots with total capacity of 358,000 t/annum where Alcoa’s share is 197,000 t/annum.
