India imported about 15.75 MnT of Non-coking coal in Apr’15, registering a drop-down of 4% from Mar’15.
Non-coking coal constituted the major share of decline, i.e. 4%, in India’s total decline in Coal import for Apr’15. Total Coal import by India, the third largest Coal importer, was about 19.5 MnT in the first month of the new financial year, which is a decline of about 5% as compared to import of Coal in Mar’15.

According to SteelMint’s research, Non-coking coal import has registered a down fall of about 4% against 16.39 MnT in Mar’15 but, has increased considerably by about 11% compared to 14.1 MnT Y-o-Y. Total Coal import has also declined form 20.6 MnT in Mar’15 to 19.5 MnT in Apr’15. About 15.75 MnT of Non-coking coal was reported to be imported in India in Apr’15.
Top Exporters of Non-Coking Coal in Apr’15
Indonesia topped the list by importing about 12.2 MnT of Non-coking coal in Apr’15, against 12 MnT in the last month of the FY15, indicating a marginal growth of 1.6%, whereas Australia and South Africa imported about 3.3 MnT & 2.3 MnT respectively, and stood as 2nd & 3rd largest Non-coking coal importers consecutively for the second month.
Major Discharging Ports
Mundra received about 3 MnT of imported Non-coking coal in Apr’15, topping the list, whereas Hazira & Ennore received about 1.26 & 1.1 MnT of Non-coking coal respectively and ranked were 2nd & 3rd in the list.
