China: Shanxi province to raise coal output to 1.4 bnt by 2025

The government of Shanxi proposed to increase coal output to 1.4 bnt by 2025 according to the ore mining plan for 2021-2025. To achieve this, production capacity is expected to raise to 1.56 bnt/yr with number of mines expected to reach 900. Shanxi produces about 1/3rd of China’s total output. In 2022, the province produced 1.31 bnt. For 2023, the coal output target is 1.365 bnt.
