Japan: Iron ore and pellets imports fall by 8% y-o-y in CY’22

Japan’s iron ore and pellets imports decreased by 7.8% y-o-y to 104.24 mnt in CY’22 from 113.08 mnt in CY’21, as per Customs data.
Australia was the top exporter with 62.77 mnt, followed by Brazil with 29.16 mnt.
However, import volumes inched up by 3.1% to 7.95 mnt in Dec’22, against 7.71 mnt in the previous month.
