Japan: Steel billet exports down by 14% y-o-y in CY’22

Japan’s steel billet exports fell by 14% y-o-y to 2.77 mnt in CY’22 from 3.22 mnt in CY’21, as per Customs data.
South Korea was the largest importer at 1.12 mnt followed by Taiwan and Thailand at 839,947 mnt and 522,276 mnt, respectively in CY’22.
Export volumes fell by 21.4% m-o-m to 189,305 t in Dec’22 as against 240,965 t in Nov’22.
