Import
Scenario:-
India imported total HRC quantity up to 1.224 million
tonnes in the period of April to December 2012 up by 10% from 1.110 million
tonnes in the period of April to December 2011 as reported by Joint Planning
Commission (JPC).
Whereas, there is a decline of 8% in the imported
quantity of CRC. Total CRC Imports quantity during Apr 12 – Dec 12 were
about 1.224 million tonnes as compared to 1.154 million tons (Apr 11 – Dec
11).
Export Scenario:-
HR COIL-976000 tonnes (Apr 12 – Dec 12) 743000 tonnes (Apr 11 – Dec 11) up by 31%
CR COIL- 28600 tonnes (Apr 12 – Dec 12) 210000 tonnes (Apr 11 – Dec 11) up by 36%
The conclusion drawn on the basis of above data
available to us, that Indian exports of HRC/CRC are increasing their percentage
share year-on year basis wise as compared to their imports percentage. It can
be interpreted that Indian mills are importing higher quantity of HRC as
compared to the quantity available for exports might be due to easy feasibility
of fetching finished steel rather than bearing the higher cost of production
process involved.
