Mongolia: Coking coal exports more than double y-o-y in CY’22

Mongolia’s coking coal exports surged by 102% y-o-y to 31.36 mnt in CY’22. The country’s coking coal exports picked up last year compared to 2021. In 2021, Mongolia was facing strict Covid restrictions that affected coal production, further compounded by lack of railway connections affecting transportation. Mongolia’s coal exports rose by 13% m-o-m to 4.51 mnt in Dec’22.
