India: Mineral Transport affected from Joda

Mineral dispatch and transport from Joda mining circle has been interrupted since Thursday following the economic blockade by a local organization, demanding for better infrastructure in the Keonjhar District.

According to reports, Iron ore loading at 5 out of 6 railway sidings has been stopped for the last two days. The railway sidings are Banspani, Jurudi, Nayagarh, Deojhar and Barbil. However, only Bolani railway siding has been partially operational.

Deputy Director of Mines (DDM), Joda has informed that mineral raising and transport has been severely affected since Thursday and the government has lost revenue of about INR 0.10 billion in the two days and the railways has lost a revenue of INR 0.20 billion already. On the other hand, raw material scarcity at the steel plants is expected to intensify in the coming days if the strike continues for a long time.
