China permits 4 state-owned firms to resume coal imports from Australia

China has permitted four state-owned companies to resume coal imports from Australia. Three of these are power utilities: China Datang Corp., China Huaneng Group Co., and China Energy Investment Corp, while the fourth is top steelmaker Baowu Steel Group. The firms will be allowed to purchase coal only for their own use. An unofficial ban was imposed on Australian coal imports in Oct’20.
