South Korea: Major steel mills lift scrap buy prices by $16/t

  • South Korean steel majors – Hyundai Steel, POSCO, and SeAh Besteel – have lifted their scrap purchase prices by up to KRW 20,000/t ($16/t), effective 3 Jan’23, as per SteelDaily reports.
  • Hyundai Steel raised prices by KRW 20,000/t ($16/t) for its Incheon, Pohang, and Dangjin plants. Similarly, POSCO for its Gwangyang and Pohang plant and SeAh Steel also raised bids by the same quantum for all scrap grades to acquire material for restocking.
