National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), India’s largest and state owned Iron ore significantly increased its supplies from its Bailadila mines (CG) in March 2015, after prices were cut to a tune of INR 300-500/MT. Total 328 rakes were loaded in March against 205 in February. Each rake carries approximately 3,900 MT.
Chhattisgarh based units increased purchases from NMDC
Chhattisgarh based units significantly increased their purchases from NMDC. Total 100 rakes were dispatched in March against 40 in Feb. Manufacturers are hopeful that NMDC may cut Fines and ROM prices for April deliveries.
JSPL and Tata Steel emerging customers for NMDC
It was also observed that Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) and Tata steel has increased their off-take from NMDC in March. Sources also mention that these companies have signed long term supply contract with NMDC looking at mining uncertainties in domestic market.
Export movement remained flat
Iron ore rakes dispatched for exports remain unchanged owing to lower realizations in global market.
