Germany’s zinc imports were recorded at 75,276 tonnes (t) in October 2022, a rise of 38% m-o-m compared to 54,722 t in September, as per data maintained by SteelMint.
Out of this, imports of ores/concentrates stood at 40,294 t (up 95%) and semi-finished products at 34,928 t (up 20%).
On a y-o-y basis, zinc imports increased by 57% compared to 47,826 t in October 2021.
Country-wise imports-

- Imports from Australia increase: Australia was the largest exporter of zinc to Germany at 29,994 t in October. However, there were no exports from Australia in September. Similarly, on a y-o-y basis, there were no shipments from Australia in October 2021.
- Imports from Peru rise: Imports from Peru rose to 10,194 t in October as against 507 t in the previous month. Shipments drastically increased by 5,725% y-o-y from 175 t in the same month last year.
- Imports from Spain up: Germany imported 10,125 t from Spain in October, up by 60% m-o-m from 6,336 t in September. On a y-o-y basis, the volumes went up by 60% from 6,378 t in October 2021.
