India: Scrap ship imports increase in Alang by 35% m-o-m in November

In November of this year, 11 vessels comprising 112,659 light displacement tonnage (LDT) were received at Alang for recycling, an increase of 35% from the 83,438 LDT received in October. Because of the volatile prices and economic slowdown, which have reduced purchasing power and risk tolerance, end-users were more likely to purchase smaller tonnages that led to an increase in imports.
