United States, one of the world’s largest coal producers, produced about 16.5 million short tons (mmst) of coal by the end of week 8 (15-21 Feb’15).
According to EIA’s (US Energy Information Agency) latest report, the production is about 14% lower than the last week. Weekly production of the country has declined by 13.3% than the production estimate of the comparable week in 2014.
East of the Mississippi River produced about 6.9 mmst (decline by 13.74% week on week) and West of the Mississippi River produced totaled 9.6 mmst (dropped by 14.28% week on week), according to weekly figures released by the EIA, on February 26, 2015.

The country has produced about 139.6 mmst YTD coal that includes Coking, Non-coking & Anthracite, which is about 0.8% higher than comparable YTD coal production in 2014.
